Your Pet Passenger
Keep your pet safe while driving, not only for your animal’s health and well-being, but for your wallet’s sake as well!
States Cracking Down On Dogs Behind The Wheel
If it's any indication of the danger free-roaming pets face in a vehicle, New Hampshire, the country's only state that does not have a mandatory seat belt law, actually requires dogs to buckle up.
Live free or die, goes the state's motto, but Spike and Spot don't have that liberty. And with due reason. Seven other states, Connecticut, California, Massachusetts, Nevada, Washington, Oregon and Rhode Island require owners to kennel or tether animals because of the severe danger the sudden stops and potential collisions pose to pets. An unrestrained dog can land you with a ticket between $50 and $200.
Animal lovers would almost always rather take their pet with them to run errands or on a road trip than leave them at home or at a pet motel. But for all that love for canines, most drivers have seen "dog people" take things too far, driving with their dogs in their laps or lying around their shoulders like a neck pillow and, yes, sometimes at the wheel.
And it's a double dose of danger: for the distracted driver and the unrestrained animal.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Check out these fun facts and may the luck of the Irish smile upon ya!
Fun Facts about St. Patrick's Day
St. Patrick’s Day is observed on March 17 because that is the feast day of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. It is believed that he died on March 17 in the year 461 AD. It is also a worldwide celebration of Irish culture and history. St. Patrick’s Day is a national holiday in Ireland, and a provincial holiday in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The actual color of St. Patrick is blue. Green became associated with St. Patrick's Day during the 19th century. Green, in Irish legends, was worn by fairies and immortals, and also by people to encourage their crops to grow.
St. Patrick did not actually drive snakes out of Ireland; the snakes represent the pagans that he converted to Christianity.
The very first St. Patrick's Day parade was not in Ireland. It was in Boston in 1737.
In Chicago, on St. Patrick's Day, the rivers are dyed green.
In Seattle, there is a ceremony where a green stripe is painted down the roads.
Most Catholics attend mass in the morning and then attend the St. Patrick's Day parade.
Shamrocks are worn on the lapel on this day.
In Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day, people traditionally wear a small bunch of shamrocks on their jackets or caps. Children wear orange, white and green badges, and women and girls wear green ribbons in their hair
Many young people dye their hair green for the special day.
Many people wear green on this holiday to avoid being pinched.
The phrase, "Drowning The Shamrock" is from the custom of floating the shamrock on the top of whiskey before drinking it. The Irish believe that if you keep the custom, then you will have a prosperous year.
Many bars in the United States, and abroad, serve green beer to celebrate St. Patty's Day.
Fun Facts about the Irish
34 million Americans have Irish ancestry, according to the 2003 US Census. That’s almost nine times the population of Ireland, which has 4.1 million people.
Nine of the people who signed our Declaration Of Independence were of Irish origin, and nineteen Presidents of the United States proudly claim Irish heritage -- including our first President, George Washington.
Some American towns have “Irish” names. You could visit: Mount Gay-Shamrock, West Virginia; Shamrock Lakes, Indiana; Shamrock, Oklahoma; Shamrock, Texas; Dublin, California and Dublin, Ohio.
The harp is the symbol of Ireland. The color green is also commonly associated with Ireland, also known as “the Emerald Isle.”
The Irish flag is green, white and orange. The green symbolizes the people of the south, and orange, the people of the north. White represents the peace that brings them together as a nation.
The name “leprechaun” has several origins. It could be from the Irish Gaelic word “leipreachan,” which means “a kind of aqueous sprite.” Or, it could be from “leath bhrogan,” which means “shoemaker.”
Fun Facts about Clovers
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the highest number of leaves found on a clover is 14.
One estimate suggests that there are about 10,000 regular three-leaf clovers for every lucky four-leaf clover.
Legend says that each leaf of the clover means something: the first is for hope, the second for faith, the third for love and the fourth for luck.

All-New Jeep Liberty To Arrive In 2012
Jeep’s venerable Liberty will be revamped for the 2012 model year according to the latest reports. This new model will follow in the footsteps of other Chrysler products that were recently revamped, including the Dodge Durango and Charger, the Chrysler 300, and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
What’s not clear at this point is whether the Liberty will be refreshed or whether it will receive a more extensive redesign. The current second-generation Liberty has been on sale since 2008. For 2011, the Liberty is getting a number of small updates including a new steering wheel and a lower price tag. Jeep has also launched a 70th Anniversary Edition model.
Another unknown variable is the Dodge Nitro, which rides on the same platform as the Liberty. Reports haven’t mentioned the Dodge variant, which makes us wonder if the Nitro will receive the same update or whether it will be replaced with someone else entirely. Stay tuned.

Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger Score “Top Safety Pick” Honors
Two more members of the Chrysler Group’s redesigned 2011 new-vehicle lineup earned key third-party safety recognition recently, when the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger to its roster of 2011 Top Safety Picks.
Significantly, each relies on a two-pronged safety strategy to achieve strong crash-test ratings like these. The dramatically styled sedans boast both active safety systems like standard electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes, Hill Start Assist, Rain Brake Support and Ready Alert Braking, as well as passive safety measures such as front reactive head restraints and a comprehensive suite of airbags. These include full-length side-curtain airbags, seat-mounted side-thorax air bags and a driver’s knee bag.
“With the addition of the new Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger, Chrysler Group now has seven Top Safety Picks in the 2011 model year. This recognition by the IIHS underscores our commitment to safety across all vehicle segments,” said Scott Kunselman, senior vice president for Engineering at the Chrysler Group LLC.

Daylight Savings Time Begins on March 13
Daylight savings time is coming up this weekend. Don’t forget to set your clocks forward!
Every year, daylight savings time seems to take people by surprise. In the United States, daylight savings time begins on March 13 at 2 a.m. local time except in parts of Arizona and Hawaii. As the popular saying goes, clocks need to "spring forward" to observe the change. In other words, clocks need to be set ahead by one hour when the clock strikes 2 a.m.

Jeep Resurrecting Grand Wagoneer
Jeep hasn’t used the Grand Wagoneer nameplate in roughly 20 years, but that soon will change. In 2013, the historic moniker will once again return to the Jeep lineup as a luxurious seven-seat SUV. The Wagoneer name was first used in 1963 for the company’s new SJ-platform SUV, and it quickly became a staple of the Jeep portfolio for the years to come. The Grand Wagoneer, which was built from 1984 through 1991 (and briefly in 1993, albeit as a tarted-up Grand Cherokee), provided passengers with luxurious appointments — something Fiat/Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne wants continued when the nameplate is resurrected. “It’s time we gave the market an upper-scale Grand Wagoneer,” Marchionne said at a press conference at the Detroit auto show. “You’ll see it in January 2013.”

5 Dumb Things That Can Void Your Car Warranty
What Is A Car Warranty?
First of all, in order to understand your part in the warranty relationship, it is vital that you understand what a warranty is and what it is not. A new car warranty is an agreement between the carmaker and the consumer. It outlines what you must do to keep your warranty in force, and a warranty can be voided in part or whole. For instance, if you don't have the oil changed in the engine according to the suggested maintenance schedule and the engine fails as a result, the carmaker has the legal right to void the warranty on the engine. The rest of the warranty remains intact, providing nothing else was affected by such negligence.
There are also warranty issues related to the installation of aftermarket products and/or services on a vehicle that is still under a new car warranty. Often people install aftermarket products for adding customizing features or they use certain services for vehicle maintenance.
The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act addresses such issues. This law states that if a customer installs an aftermarket product (it could be a fluid, filter, hard part, software...virtually anything that was not installed on or in the vehicle from the factory when it was new) and if the vehicle fails as a result of the installation or use of the aftermarket product/service, the carmaker cannot arbitrarily deny a warranty claim and/or void the new car warranty because of the installation or use of the aftermarket product, but must prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the failure was indeed caused by the installation or use of the aftermarket product. The reason this law was put into place is because carmakers were arbitrarily voiding car warranties and refusing warranty service because the customer had installed an aftermarket products/services. Since there was no required burden of proof on the carmaker, consumers were hung out to dry. The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act forced the carmaker to prove that the failure was due to the aftermarket product. The law still stands today within the U.S.

2011 Grand Cherokee Named “Urban Truck of the Year”
“While faithfully capturing the spirit of its predecessor, the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is new and improved in every way,” said Lyndon Bell, editor-in-chief of Decisive Auto magazine, which collaborated with an independent panel of 15 automotive journalists in bestowing the honor. “The Jeep’s over-the-road dynamics easily rivals that of its competitors’ less capable crossover vehicles. Meanwhile, the Jeep is also perfectly proficient at traversing any terrain. Luxurious interior appointments—along with the fact that drivers aren’t penalized into accepting a lower trim level if they opt for the more fuel-efficient engine—speaks volumes to the way Jeep’s engineers and product planners incorporated 21st century realities into America’s most iconic SUV.”
